Mira Mesa Celebrates 250 Years. Many Cultures, One Freedom — Mira Mesa’s American Mosaic
We are thrilled to announce that one of Mira Mesa’s most cherished traditions is making its long-awaited return!
Our dedicated community teams have been hard at work for months preparing for the 2026 Fourth of July celebrations. With a community of more than 80,000 residents, we recognize how important it is to preserve and enhance the traditions that make our neighborhood such a special part of the City of San Diego.
Planning is already underway for the fireworks show, community day at Hourglass Park, and special events at the Mira Mesa Senior Center—alongside our Fourth of July Parade Committee, which is organizing the 250th Anniversary Parade for next year.
In recent months,
the Parade Committee has focused on finalizing an updated and workable route for the parade. Traditionally, the parade traveled about a mile down Mira Mesa Boulevard but was paused in 2020 due to the pandemic. To ensure the celebration’s success, we have submitted an alternative route to the San Diego City Special Events Office.
As part of the permitting process, our community will take responsibility for traffic control, and we will need everyone’s help to make it happen!
