CALL TO ACTION - Deliver the Promised full-sized recreation center be built at Mira Mesa Community Park.

– Mira Mesa October 024

A Call to Action

If we want Mira Mesa Community Park to reflect our community’s wishes, we need to tell the San Diego City Council. They will be voting on the current plan, which does NOT include an added full-sized gym/recreation center.

Please send an email to our city officials to insist on the fulfilment of proposed Full Sized Gym. We have been waiting over 20-years for these long-awaited upgrades, and during that time Mira Mesa has outgrown our current resources which are neglected and unable to handle the community needs. No more delays! No more broken promises!

Deliver the Promised Full Sized Gym at Mira Mesa Community Park.

Dear San Diego City Officials:

I’m writing to you today to urge you to follow through on the promised improvements to Mira Mesa Community Park, our Central Park in the heart of Mira Mesa, by delivering the following:

1. Build a 15,000-square-foot recreation center in Mira Mesa Community Park.
2. Prioritize building the full-sized center in Mira Mesa before any recreation center at Seed Park.
3. Allocate funding for the recreation center before directing city funds to projects like the Carroll Canyon Road extension.
4. Avoid wasting funds and time on feasibility studies. The need for a new recreation center at Mira Mesa Community Park has already been studied and approved in the General Development Plan.

Now is the time to act. With park improvements already underway at Mira Mesa Community Park, building the new recreation center now would save taxpayer dollars on site retrofitting and preparation. According to the
General Plan, the new gym should be located next to the current Junior Gym Recreation Center.

The Mira Mesa community has been patiently waiting for these improved promises for over 20-years, while we watch neighboring communities, with less people and less industry, build new parks and recreational facilities. Now it’s Mira Mesa’s turn to have new resources brought to one of San Diego’s fastest growing and most populated neighborhoods. We have waited long enough. We deserve better in Mira Mesa from our City, for our youth, and for our community.

Thank you for your consideration of this request.

Sincerely,
