September 2025 CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS REPORT MIRA MESA COMMUNITY PARK PHASE II IMPROVEMENTS

The Progress

Construction Progress Period of August 20 to September 20

The contractor is now preparing for the second rainy season (October–April). To date, there are no additional rainy days recorded from August 20 to September 20. The total number of non-compensated delay days remains 12 since the project began.

Ongoing Work:

  • Ongoing installation of drywall, ceiling, and HVAC improvements within the existing recreation center.
  • Ongoing installation of underground irrigation improvements.
  • Ongoing installation of flooring improvements within the recreation center.
  • Ongoing installation of interior and exterior tile improvements at aquatic building.
  • Ongoing installation of overhead pool plumbing within equipment building.
  • Ongoing rough grading for all wheel’s plaza skate features.
  • Ongoing installation of playground equipment.
  • Fabrication of public art structure has begun.

Completed Installations and Repairs:

o Shotcrete placement for swimming pool and instruction pool surge pits has been completed.

o Hardscape improvements between aquatic building and existing recreation center have been completed.

o Installation of aquatic building storefront and glazing has been completed.

o Exterior painting of aquatic and equipment buildings have been completed. A final coat of interior painting for equipment and aquatic building will be completed just prior to project completion.

o Installation of shade structures for ballfield and pool bleachers has been completed.

o Construction of perimeter retaining walls for all wheels plaza has been completed.

Outside agency coordination: 

Continued close coordination with the neighboring Epicentre project, managed by the County of San Diego.

Continued close coordination with SDG&E and AT&T planners

Petition for a New Recreation Center with Full Size Court.

Send an email to our city officials to insist on the completion of the Mira Mesa Community Park Phase 2 renovations and the Phase 3 expansion of the Gil Johnson Recreation Center.
